Burglary / Theft Arrests Made

Arrest

On Sunday, 04/19/2020 at approximately 4:47 am, Longport Officers Christopher Ricciotti and Albert Maiorano came across two suspicious individuals in the area of 23rd Avenue.  Upon patrol’s approach, the suspects, later identified as Henry Gavitt and Tara Mosowitz, fled the scene.  After engaging in a foot pursuit, Longport officers requested the assistance of Ventnor PD Officer Marc Franco and his K9 Joker in order to conduct a track of the accused.  1

At approximately 6:45 am, Patrolman Franco and Joker located Gavitt hiding in an outside shower of a Longport residence in the area between 11th and 12th Avenues.  Gavitt was taken into custody and transported to the Longport Police Department for processing.  A short time later, patrol located and apprehended Moskowitz and transported her to the police department for further processing.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle initially found to be in their possession had been stolen out of Washington Twp and remains under investigation at this time.  Gavitt and Moskowitz burglarized multiple residents within the Borough of Longport and are being charged accordingly.  They were released on summonses with a court date to appear in Atlantic County’s Superior Court.

The Longport Police Department advises residents who believe their homes to have been burglarized around this time, to contact Officers Christopher Ricciotti and Albert Maiorano to report these findings.
